I actually had a great experience with AFLAC the only reason was my agent. Joanie Graham, she would tell me how to file a claim and to file everything I could. She went above and beyond what any insurance agent would do. Unfortunately Joanie passed away in 2006 because of cancer. Since she has passed on, AFLAC seems like another insurance provider…
I just wanted to comment on the fact that Aflac is not major medical and is not considered “health insurance” it is supplemental insurance that pays cash directly to the policyholder NOT doctors or hospitals. Aflac pays its claims in an extremely timely mannor and rarely denies people. This company should not be listed on a board about a film that discusses a national health care systems and the problem with major medical in our country (I do agree that we are facing a health care crisis)… Aflac is not major medical insurance.
I paid my yearly premium of $202.80 last month on my cancer insurance and today I received a check from them for $202.80 telling me my policy was terminated and I could fill out this long application to be reinsured. I guess because I just turned 64 on May 16th they think I’m a risk now so what the heck, throw him out, why take a gamble? This is the 2nd time they did this. I had been with them close to 30 years. OK Aflac….I’m gone now. Thank you.
I’m writing this to let american’s know that there is a signifigant difference between AFLAC and conventional insurance companies. As a financial planner that cares for my clients financial positions and futures, I can only say good things about AFLAC.
AFLAC is different than conventional health insurance because they do not pay doctors, hospitals, and drug companies. They pay the policyholder alone. They don’t look for shortcuts to pay less than the claims require either. This is known as “insurance coordination”. They pay the policyholder cash based upon events that occur. The truth is AFLAC isn’t medical insurance at all. It is financial insurance. Yes, it is based on medical events happening; but medical insurance is in the back pocket of hospitals, drug companies, and doctors. AFLAC is not. This type of insurance has my support because of the financial backing it provides to my financial planning clients. Thank you for this forum.
I wanted to say that I support AFLAC as they have helped my family tremendously in the past few years.
My grandson is currently in a mental hospital after he fell to a chronic gambling addiction when he started playing at online casinos. He first won a good chunk of money when he hit a jackpot at a slot machine. He then started to play regularly, progressively losing it all and more, succumbing to massive debts. He went to deep depression with multiple suicide attempts and then even lost part of his reason. He now needs constant mental care and without AFLAC I do not know how we could afford to pay these huge bills. They have been very supportive and they do not try to short change us.

Problem is that the name of the company rhymes with Ex-Lax!
